The Area

Described as one of the wildest places in the UK by National Geographic, Ardnamurchan is a dream for nature lovers.  It is home to the last surviving populations of endangered Scottish wildcat, as well as pine martins and golden eagles; while otters, whales and dolphins swim in its waters. The diverse scenery includes beautiful woodland, rugged mountains, stunning sandy beaches and tawny moorland.  There are opportunities to explore on foot, by kayak or boat, bicycle or car.

With one of the darkest skies in the UK, this part of Scotland is also perfect for star-gazers.  On a clear night, with so little light pollution, the sky is thick with stars, and lucky visitors may even see the Northern Lights.

Creature Comforts

Aspen Lodge offers high end comfort in unique, architect-designed accommodation. It has three generous en-suite bedrooms, all with stunning loch views. The ground-floor master bedroom is a super-king with floor-to-ceiling views, a walk-in shower and spa bath overlooking the loch. There is a second super-king double upstairs, while the third bedroom has the flexibility of being set as a twin or double. The main open-plan living area features enormous cathedral windows, perfect for viewing all of the animal visitors to the garden through the spotter scope. Up in the galleried snug, comfy beanbags and board games beckon.

The lodge is truly a house for all seasons. During the colder months there is nothing more inviting than curling up with a book by a roaring fire, hot toddy in hand. In the summer months the large sliding doors can be opened up to the hand-crafted stone barbeque, large garden and vast skies.

Safe & Clean

We are very much looking forward to re-opening Aspen Lodge on 10 July. We would like to thank all of our guests for working with us, and being so understanding in these difficult and uncertain times.

We would like to reassure you that we have tailored our response to the pandemic with the safety of our guests and housekeeping team being our main priority. In particular:

  1. Our property managers have undertaken specific contamination training to ensure that their cleaning products and techniques are as thorough and advanced as possible, and specifically tailored for eradicating germs.
  2. In accordance with the government cleaning advice for non-healthcare environments and the industry guidance for self-catering accommodation, hard surfaces within the house will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, and all linen is laundered appropriately.
  3. Our house brochure and welcome letter are provided in electronic format only – which guests may download and read at their leisure.
  4. We have always provided handwash for our guests at the lodge, and we have now added hand sanitiser and gloves. We would ask guests to bring their own masks please.
  5. We have been deemed Good to Go by Visit Britain, which indicates that we are following government and industry guidelines, and have a process in place to maintain cleanliness and comply with government guidelines.
